Robert Price made his start in the racing world riding track work under the tutelage of K. J. Robinson in the early 1980s. After which time he then had his first success as a trainer with his first horse – a tried racehorse called Phantom King – in 1992. Rob has since had many winners including the stakes performers Red Ivory and Kosta Nothin'. He has also had many city winners with horses like Belle Voyage, Keeping the Faith, Art Official and the ever consistent  Fuel .

Training facilities

Turpentine Park is a well established facility with:

  • 20 roomy boxes
  • 12 day yards
  • sand roll
  • 10 horse capacity walking machine with separate incline treadmill
  • 2 private race tracks
    • one an 800 metre “trot and canter” track with a shock absorbing “viscoride” type surface
    • the other a 2400 metre circumference, full work track with an incline 1000metre straight run on the same – impact absorbing surface

Turpentine Park is also blessed with immediate access to the superb racing and training tracks of Kembla Grange and Nowra and the stunning 7 Mile Beach at Berry offers the perfect natural surface to work racehorses.

Rob is an approachable and communicative trainer
who prides himself on his client relationships and his personal integrity. He is always available to discuss horses with clients and readily makes himself available to inspect yearlings at all the major sales for anyone interested in purchasing. It was this keen eye that saw Rob purchase a bay filly by a relatively unknown sire back in 1995 for $4,750 at the Scone yearling sales. That filly went on to race as Red Ivory – a multiple black type earner.

Rob is married to Patricia Price, daughter of the legendary south coast trainer K.J.Robinson
who was second to none in the industry. It is this wealth of background in the industry, combined with a genuine love and respect for the land and the horse that makes this family a force to be reckoned with in the racing industry.

Whether it is having a horse trained, putting together the perfect package of owners for a syndicate, or purchasing from a yearling sale – Robert Price is the ideal choice. Swimming facilities
A man made dam with boardwalk for walking the horses as they undergo their daily swim routine is one of the highlights of the property. The swim workout being essential for the everyday routine, that successful racehorses undergo, in preparation to win races.
